Ross Custom Leather specializes in plaited/braided kangaroo leather horse tack, personal items, and jewelry.
First grade, veg-tanned, drum stuffed, hand cut, leveled and beveled kangaroo lace is available for your own leatherworking requirements. Any yardage, width and bevel can be ordered.
Ross Custom Leather makes farrier chaps (farrier aprons). These rugged, durable, well-constructed farrier chaps/farrier aprons provide comfort and protection. Although, specifically designed for farriers, these chaps/aprons are useful for many types of outdoor work and recreation.

Anne’s work was part of the “Artisans & Agroecology: The Cultural Connection between Craft & Rural Life” exhibition at Mary Baldwin College, Hunt Gallery, September 3-28, 2012. Joseph F. Sheridan was exhibition curator. Anne’s exhibit pieces included 20/24 plait kangaroo leather romal reins, 24 plait kangaroo leather 5/8” bosal, and 16/20 plait kangaroo leather romal reins.
Anne is a member of the Artisans Center of Virginia as a Juried Virginia Artisan with “professional” distinction, indicating a high quality of craftsmanship to be recognized for its competency in skill, fine use of materials and efforts in developing a focused career path as an artist entrepreneur. Chuck Pinnell, ACV special juror of distinction, wrote the following: “I have been in the leather trade for 38 years and have seldom seen such well-made goods. Anne is a master in every sense of the word”. May 3, 2012
As part of the International Federation of Leather Guilds’, Inc. Conference and Trade Show held in Albuquerque, NM, October 2011, Anne taught a plaiting class and enjoys helping others advance their leatherworking skills. Helping others obtain the knowledge required to become accomplished leatherworkers is essential for the preservation and advancement of this beautiful and useful art form.
Photographs and text of Anne’s work were included in May 2011 and August 2011 issues of Shop Talk!, a leather retailers’ and manufacturers’ journal.
Anne’s plait work placed first in the International Federation of Leather Guilds’, Inc., advanced division, large complex items category, horse gear class competition in 2010 and 2011. Also, in 2010 Anne’s work was awarded first place in advanced division, best of categories; advanced division, best of show; and excellence in leather from the host guild during IFoLG competition.
